Police bust ‘militant hideout’ in Gazipur Police have raided a two-storey building in Gazipur, which they say were used by militants as their hideout.
An arrest was made as well as firearms and bombs were found in the house at Sreepur Upazila in the raid, which unfolded just before dawn on Sunday (Jun 24).
The arrestee has been identified as Abdur Rahman, 37, Dinajpur’s Debiganj Upazila.
Three pistols and four bombs were seized from the ground-floor flat of the building, where the suspect lived as a tenant, Gazipur’s Senior Assistant Superintendent Shahidul Islam told Bangla Tribune.
A bomb disposal unit from Dhaka later destroyed the bombs by controlled explosions, Islam said.
Speaking to Bangla Tribune, landlord Rafiqul Islam said: “A team from the police headquarters cordoned-off the building around 4 am.
“A person, who identified himself as an additional superintendent of police, called on my phone to meet him downstairs, where they told me that ground-floor flat will be raided.”
He said that the police called him an hour later, when he found that his tenant was arrested. “Police said they found three pistols and four bombs in the flat.”

Suspect Adbur Rahman rented the flat two months ago and moved in with his wife, said landlord Islam.
