Badi’s yaba trading brothers hiding in Myanmar

Saiful Karim, aka ‘Yaba Don’ of Teknaf Before being killed in a ‘shootout’ with the law, Saiful Karim, aka ‘Yaba Don’ of Teknaf revealed the names of 33 yaba and hundi traders. Of the 33, are the names of the two brothers of former MP of Cox’s Bazar, Abdur Rahman Badi and a former UP chairman.
Police says that after the death of Saiful, three cases were lodged against 33 yaba traders and hundi dealers. As informant, the name of Saiful was mentioned in the police report.
On May 30 night, Saiful was killed in a gun fight with the police near the Naf River. Later, police recovered 9 LGs, 42 shot gun cartridges and 100,000 pieces of yaba from the spot.
During the confession, Saiful admitted to bringing yaba to Bangladesh concealed in imported items from Myanmar. He used to operate a yaba selling syndicate all over the country.
As per the police report, Saiful’s cohorts were also involved in the trade of illegal weapons and bullets.
After Saiful’s death, many drug dealers have gone into hiding while brothers of Badi are thought to be hiding in Myanmar.
Former UP chairman, Zafar Ahmed, also mentioned by Saiful to be a drug dealer, is currently in Dhaka and is believed to be trying to flee to Dubai with his son Shahjahan.
