Police recovered the body of Kushtia’s Jayantihajra UP member Abdul Majed Mandal (45) from Khamarpara canal at Machpara union under Pangsha upazila in Rajbari.
Majed, son of late late Sohrab Mandal of Purbagopalpur village, was the No. 5 member of Jayantihajra union under Khoksa upazila in Kushtia.
Senior Assistant Police Super (Pangsha circle) Fazlul Karim confirmed the news.
He said, “The body will be sent to the morgue of Rajbari Medical College for autopsy. Police are investigating the cause of murder.”
Jayantihajra union’s Govinda Chandra Biswas said, “Majed went to attend an iftar programme at Vabaniganj village in Jayantipara union. He was missing since then.”
Jayantihajra UP Chairman Abdur razzak said, “His family members have identified the body. A team from the union parishad has gone to Rajbari to see the body.”
