Police has arrested a man for raping a six-year-old child in Mahalchari upazila of Khagrachari.

The arrestee, identified as Khorshed Alam was held during a drive by Mahalchari police in Lichu Bagan area of Rangamati’s Kaptai on Tuesday (Apr 23) night

Khorshed is a resident of Natunpara area in Mahalchari upazila.

On Mar 23, Khorshed lured the child with cake and took her behind Mahalchari Health Complex, where he raped and tortured her. Later he fled from that location, leaving the child behind.

A month after the incident, police arrested him based on the information given by the child.

Mahalchari police OC Nur Alam said, “The child’s mother has filed a case and Khorshed has been sent to jail on the court’s order.”
