A female college student has been allegedly gang-raped by a group of miscreants in Singair upazila of the Manikganj district on Friday (Apr 19).
According to sources, the female student from Singair had an affair with a college boy of nearby Harirampur. On Friday night, when the youth went to Singair to meet his girlfriend, some seven to eight youths got hold of him and seized his cell phone.
The miscreants then used the cell phone to lure the college girl from her home and took multiple pictures of the couple together. At one stage, they tied up the college boy and gang-raped the girl throughout the night.
In the morning, the college boy called his brother for help. The matter was then informed to the police.
Upon receiving information, police personnel from Singair police station rescued the victims from the area on Saturday (Apr 20) morning. The survivor also filed a case with the station accusing seven people.
Khandakar Imam Hossain, officer-in-charge (OC) of Singair police station said, "Five of the seven accused in the case have been detained. The victim has been sent to Manikganj district hospital for medical examination."
