Kamrun Nahar Moni and Jabed Hossain, went to meet Sonagazi Islamia Senior Fazil Madrasa’s principal SM Siraj-ud-Daula in prison who asked them to "Do something" about Nusrat.

Both of them gave confessional statements in the court of Feni Senior Judicial Magistrate Sharaf Uddin Ahmed on Saturday (Apr 20) from 4 pm to 10 pm.

“After tying Nusrat’s hands and legs on the rooftop, Moni held her down by strangling her,” Additional Special Superintendent of Police Md Moniruzzaman told the media citing the confessional statements.

“Jabed then poured one-litre kerosene on Nusrat and set her on fire by lighting a matchstick,” Moniruzzaman of PBI, added.

PBI’s Moniruzzaman also said Moni and Jabed were among the five who carried out the arson attack on Nusrat on the rooftop of Sonagazi Islamia Fazil (Degree) Madrashah on Apr 6.

Before her death on Apr 10, Nusrat said the assailants tricked her onto the rooftop when the Alim candidate went to the madrasa on that day to sit for exams.

They set her on fire as she refused to withdraw sexual abuse charges against principal SM Siraj-ud-Daula.

Jabed confessed that they met on Apr 5 to plan the attack. Another suspect Shamim proposed to set fire on Nusrat. Shamim decided to involve Umme Sultana Poppy and Kamrun Nahar Moni. He also funded the money to buy the burqas.

Arrested on the sexual harassment allegations on Mar 27, Siraj orchestrated the killing from jail, police said.

Poppy, a niece of Siraj, said in her confessional statement on Friday that she had called Nusrat to the rooftop before the attack.

Earlier on Saturday, PBI claimed to have found one of the three burqas worn by the male assailants following a lead.

Jabed and Moni were classmates of Nusrat.

Moni, a relative of Shamim, also admitted to buying the burqas and handing those over to him, the PBI official confirmed.

Shamim took part in the attack also because Nusrat had refused his proposal for a romantic relationship, police said to the media citing Jabeds' confessional statement.
