Dr Samad to be buried in New Zealand

Dr Abdus Samad was among the four Bangladeshis who died in New Zealand mosque shooting on Friday (Mar 15)Dr Md Abdus Samad, one of the Bangladeshi-born victims of the Christchurch mosque shooting, will be buried in New Zealand, says his family.

“He will be buried at the Muslim community’s graveyard in New Zealand,” Samad eldest son Toha Mohammad said.  

“New Zealand authorities confirmed my father’s death to my mother and younger brother on Saturday (Mar 16) and we have identified his body,” said Toha before adding, “He will be buried once his body is handed over to us.”

Toha, who is currently at their hometown in Kurigram, said he will shortly visit his mother and brother in New Zealand.

Dr Samad, who was born in Kurigram’s Madhurhailla village, had been living in New Zealand for the past few years with his wife Kishowara Sultana and two sons— Tarek Mohammad and Tanvir Mohammad. His eldest son Toha is a service holder in Bangladesh.

Dr Samas was an Agronomist and used to teach at the Bangladesh Agricultural University.
