Four BNP leaders banished for contesting Upazila polls

A media statement signed by BNP central committee Assistant Office Secretary Belal Ahmed read that the leaders banished on Tuesday (Mar 5) have been stripped off their memberships in addition to their executive posts. The BNP has banished four of its Moulvibazar leaders for taking part in the Upazila Council polls.
The central committee took the decision on Tuesday (Mar 5) and later informed BNP’s Moulvibazar unit.
The banished leaders are: Helena Aktar Chowdhury who served as the party’s district women affairs secretary, Liton Ahmed Saju who was Jobo Dal’s Moulvibazar unit president, Abdul Moyen Faruq, who was the party’s Kamalganj unit acting secretary and Parveen Akhter Lily, former women affairs secretary of Kamalganj unit.
A written statement signed by BNP central committee Assistant Office Secretary Belal Ahmed read that the banished leaders have been stripped off their memberships in addition to their executive posts.
The BNP announced on Jan 24 that it will no longer be taking part in any election under the Awami League government.
