As many as seven border troopers have been sued by residents of a bordering village in Thakurgaon over the Feb 12 firing that left three people dead and scores injured.
Thakurgaon Judicial Magistrate Court Judge Farhana Khan took the cases into cognisance and fixed Mar 6 for hearing.
Plaintiff lawyer Nurul Islam said they filed three cases with the court as the police declined to record their cases.
The cases were filed mentioning names of seven Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members including BGB Battalion 50 Commander Lt Col Tuhin Md Masud and some unidentified ones.
Earlier on Feb 14, BGB filed two cases with local police against more than 250 villagers over the clash at Bahrampur village of the district’s Haripur Upazila.
