File photo shows a Dash-8 aircraft of the US-Bangla airline`s fleet.A US-Bangla Airlines flight from the Saidpur airport was delayed by three hours on Saturday as the aircraft failed to take off.
The Bombardier Dash 8 aircraft, with 78 people on board, was scheduled to leave at 11:15am, but the plane could not take off after at least two repeated attempts.
“Due to a mechanical glitch, the aircraft failed to fly. It left for Dhaka around 2:45pm,” said Saidpur Airport’s Manager Md Shahin Ahmed.
Abul Kalam Azad, a physics teacher at a Saidpur college, was among the passengers of the flight.
“All the 76 passengers boarded the plane before 11am, but it failed to take off despite two attempts. We heard loud noises when the plane was taxing on the runway,” he said.
Azad took another flight to Dhaka following the incident.
Bangla Tribune was not able to reach US-Bangla Airlines’ Saidpur Station in-charge Md Zakir Hossain for a comment as his phone was switched off.
