A variety of construction is going on, surrounding the Padma Bridge. To maintain law and order, two police stations are being established.
Named Padma Bridge North and Padma Bridge South, the stations have not begun administrative operations as yet.
The two four-storied buildings for stations were built at a cost of Tk. 35 crore by the Padma Bridge authority.
Each thana will have 40 police members along with one assistant police superintendent. The structures of the buildings are already done. Once the area around the bridge was deserted and now it’s turned into a thriving town with new settlements, bazaars and markets.
The local people are also happy to see the presence of law enforcers and feel that with two stations, law and order will be maintained properly.
Meanwhile, Madaripur police superintendent Subrata Kumar Halder feels that once the stations go into operation, the locals will be benefitted.
Madaripur district administrator, Wahidul Islam, said: “the new building has been constructed as part of the government’s development programme and will secure lives and properties of locals.”
