BNP’s Gaibandha-3 candidate drops out of race

BNP candidate for Gaibandha Dr Moinul Hossain Sadik. File PhotoJatiya Oikya Front Candidate Dr Moinul Hossain Sadik has dropped out of the race in Gaibandha-3 where the polls have been rescheduled due to the death of a candidate.
The BNP leader withdrew his nomination on Thursday (Jan 10), the last day to pull out.
“The Dec 30 polls will always be a disgraceful chapter,” Sadik said during a media call at BNP’s district office in Gaibandha-3.
He added that BNP will no longer take part in the polls give the blatant vote snatching, occupying of polls station aided by the administration.
The Gaibnadha-3 polls were rescheduled to Jan 27, after the death of Oikya Front candidate TIM Fazle Rabbi Chowdhury on Dec 20.
Moinul Hossain Sadik submitted his nomination as the BNP’s pick on Jan 2 but withdrew saying that it was party’s decision.
Now that Sadik has withdrawn there are seven aspirants for the constituency including Awami League’s Dr Yunus Ali Sarker and Jatiya Party’s Dilara Khandaker Shilpi.
