Missing Bangladeshi pilgrim found dead in Saudi Arabia

Azizar Goldar. FILE PHOTOThe body of a missing Bangladeshi pilgrim has been found in the plains of Arafat in Saudi Arabia after almost four months.
The deceased is 75-year-old Azizar Goldar whose body was recovered by Saudi authorities on Nov 23, his son-in-law Md Shah Alam Shipon confirmed on Wednesday (Dec 19).
Hailing from Mithakhali village of Bagerhat’s Mongla Upazila, Azizar, went missing when he went to perform the holy Hajj in August this year.
“We were unable to contact him (Azizar Goldar) since Aug 21,” said Shipon adding, “The Saudi authorities sent word on Wednesday, saying his body has been found.”
Shipon said that Solaiman Hossain, the Bangladeshi officer responsible for searching for pilgrims conveyed the message to them. “He will be buried in Saudi with the family’s consent.”
