Ruhul Amin Hawlader barred from Patuakhali-1 raceJatiya Party Secretary General Ruhul Amin Hawlader will not be able to contest the race in Patuakhali -1, where he is the incumbent lawmaker.
On Sunday (Dec 2), application to run from the Patuakhali-1 seat has been rejected by election officials for ‘loan defaults’.
Patuakhali Returning Officer and Deputy Commissioner Md Matiul Islam Chowdhury rejected his application to run from the seat for ‘loan defaults’.
Former state minister Md Shajahan Miah received the Awami League’s ticket for the seat, while the BNP has nominated Altaf Hossain Chowdhury and Suraiya Akhtar Chowdhury. The returning officer declared their nominations valid.
Nominations of four other aspirants from the seat have been scrapped. They are Zaker Party’s Abdur Rashid, NPP’s Md Suman Sannamat, Bangladesh Muslim League’s Khabir Uddin Reza Howlader and independent aspirant Abul Kalam Mridha.
Four candidates failed to secure the green light for Patuakhali-2 constituency— BNP’s Shahidul Islam Talukder and independent aspirants, Abu Nayeem, Mizanur Rahman Khan and Md Shafiqul Islam.
Nominations filed by two BNP candidates for the Patuakhali-3 seat – Golam Maula Rony and Md Shahjahan Khan have been scrapped while the third backup BNP candidate Hasan Mamun was cleared.
All the candidates who filed nominations for the Patuakhal-4 seat have been cleared for the Dec 30 race.
