An autistic teen was reportedly victimized in a running bus and gang raped.
The incident was reported around 12:30am Thursday at the Bangabandhu Bridge area on the Dhaka-Tangail highway.
Police arrested one bus helper Nazmul, 22, in connection to the incident.
Bangabandhu Bridge East Police OC Mosharrof Hossain said, on the night of the incident a local bus from Tangail was going to the Bangabandhu bridge eastside bus stand with a few passengers on board.
Everyone but the mentally challenged girl got off the bus at the stoppages.
The driver, supervisor and helper gang raped the teen having found her alone, said the police officer.
Police on patrol duty heard the teen scream and chased the bus down arresting the helper while the supervisor Bishu and Driver Alam managed to flee, he said.
OC Hossain also said that, the girl could be mentally challenged as she couldn’t tell her name or address. She is now being treated in Tangail General Hospital.
A case was started in the incident and helper Nazmul confessed to the crime before the Tangail Special Court.
Police is hunting down the others, he said.
