Stocks end flat as turnover falls

The day’s trade value at the DSE declined to Tk 6.12 billion from Monday’s Tk 8.92 billion and the daily trade fell to 129.3 million shares from 208.1 million shares of the previous session, reports BSS.

The broader DSEX index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the day with 11.40 points up at 5,735.92. The blue-chip DS30 and the Shariah DSES also followed the same trend with 7.61 points up at 1,995 and with 2.85 points up at 1,307.56.

“Index showed a fluctuating trend throughout the day. Index started with an upward trend but reversed its trend soon. The index then rebounded and fell again in the third hour of the session. The index rebounded again in the last hour of the session,” said Lanka Bangla Securities Limited.

At the DSE, prices of 124 securities out of the day’s 345 closed higher against 124 losing issues.

The major gaining issues were AIL, Rupali Life Insurance, JMISMDL, MERCINS and Dutch Bangla. The major losing issues were Dulamia Cotton, Samata Leather, Sonar Bangla Insurance, S Alam Cold Storage and Agrani Insurance.

UPGDCL topped the turnover list followed by BSCCL, GP, Square Pharma and Fortune. The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with upward trend with its major CASPI 26.45 points up at 17,568.05.

At CSE, 261 issues were traded. Of those, 77 closed higher and 142 closed lower when 6.61 million shares worth Tk 218.5 million changed hands.
