Dhaka stocks end higher on large-cap vibe

Stocks witnessed upward trend on Tuesday (Jan 15) as major indices of both Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges were found rising trend with higher activities of some large-cap securities.
The rising major sectors were financial institutions, textile and insurance. A total of 128 securities of the large-cap group moved up on higher activities, reports BSS.
The broader DSEX index of the DSE closed the session with 27.04 points up at 5,863.28. The Shariah DSES and the blue-chip DS30 also followed the same trend with 4.03 points up at 1,330.62 and with 3.07 points up at 2,029.07 respectively.
Turnover slightly fell to Tk 11.39 billion from Monday’s Tk 11.46 billion.
At the DSE, price of 159 securities out of the day’s 344 traded issues closed higher against 147 losing issues.
The major gaining issues were UNITEDFIN, Agrani Insurance, Al Haj Textile, Eastern Insurance and Orion Infusion while the major losing issues were BXSYNTH, ICB3RDNRB, Emerald Oil, CNATEX and MEGCONMILK.
KPCL topped the turnover leaders followed by BBS Cables, Olympic, Active Fine and FASFIN.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with upward
trend with its major CASPI 73.62 points up at 17,957.92.
At the CSE, 277 issues were traded. Of those, 131 closed higher and 119 closed lower while shares worth Tk 415.4 million changed hands.
