Bangladesh Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) has fixed Apr 6 for its managing body election for 2019-2020 term.

The association will elect 35 directors in its Board of Directors, reads a press release sent out to the media on Tuesday (Jan 15).

Deadline for filing nominations is until 12pm Feb 28 while withdrawal of nomination papers can be done until Mar 6.

Earlier on Jan 5, a panel was formed to conduct the election.

Former Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA) President Jahangir Alamin, has been picked once again to serve as the electoral board chief.

The other two member in the panel is Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) President Nihad Kabir and ASM Naim, who is a representative from a Chattogram-based company.

Bangladesh Employers’ Federation President Kamran T Rahman has been made the Chairman in the apepal board.  Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce & Industries (FBCCI) Senior Vice President Fazle Fahim and Dhaka Chamber’s former President Abul Kashem Khan is also in the appeal panel.

The tenure for the current board or directors had been extended on three occasions.
