Revenue collection by the National Board of Revenue fell Tk 70 billion short of its target in July-August, the first two months of 2018-19 fiscal.
Collection stood at Tk 283 billion against its target of Tk 356 billion during this period, which is a 1.53 percent higher than that period of the last fiscal, according to data from the NBR.
Of the total revenue, Tk 97.13 billion came from import and export duties while Tk 109.86 billion from Value Added Tax (VAT) at local level and Tk 76.03 billion from income tax and travel tax.
The NBR collected Tk 278 billion in the first two months of 2017-18 fiscal.
The government has fixed a target over Tk 2.96 trillion for the current fiscal.
