Travellers usually use the Eid holidays to go to different countries; many travel within the country and others go overseas.
Tour operators and different airlines’ are offering packages. Rainbow Holidays gave several packages during the Eid holiday and through this agency, around 400 people went to Nepal, Thailand, Egypt, Singapore, India and other countries.
Owner of the agency, Salahuddin Rumi, said: “since weekends have been added to the three day holiday, people became interested to go abroad.”
Many also go for medical check-up, he said.
Facebook based travel groups are also becoming popular. One such group is Shopnojatra Travel, which has gone to Shillong in India with a 15 member team.
Founder of the group, Billah Mamun, says: “Shopnojatra is a travel oriented public platform; we started with a trip to Tanguar haor in 2016.”
Meanwhile, Regent Holidays have offered several packages for trips to Oman, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and other countries.
Director of Tour Operators of Bangladesh, Syed Shafatuddin Ahmed, said: “we do not have an accurate data of people going abroad for holidays; but more people are going overseas now.”
From my organization, 36 persons went abroad, with high response from the Tk. 9999 package Bangkok trip for students, he added.
