After a national daily reported that Shakib Al Hasan, the celebrated cricketer, did not disclose that he was approached by a gambler, the State Minister for Youth and Sports Zahid Ahsan Russell said that no matter what the decision they will stand by Shakib
“The cricket board said that they do not know anything about it either; may be Shakib also took the matter lightly. Whatever the ICC does, we will stand by Shakib,” he said on Tuesday (Oct 29).Saying that the matter is being monitored, he added, “Everything is being done by ICC’s anti corruption unit; there’s no place for intervention here.”
Talking about BCB director Lokman Hossain Bhuiyan, who was found to be linked to illegal casinos in the city, the state minister said: “The cricket board has its own policy and regulations, but I personally feel he should be removed for the time being, until proved innocent through legal process."
