After the strike, the Bangladesh test and T20 captain has dominated news for a plethora of reasons. From being uncertain for the upcoming India tour, his name is being heard in match fixing allegations.

Reportedly, the cricketer got an offer from a gambler but kept it secret, which is a severe crime as per ICC rules.

If this is proved then he may face an 18 month ban. When Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president talked to the media during the players’ strike, he alluded to the match fixing issue. Though nothing has been stated officially from BCB as yet.

Earlier, Shakib was accused of breaking BCB laws by entering into an agreement with a telecom company. BCB has remained unmoved in issuing a show cause notice on the matter.

On Tuesday (Oct 29), the nee T20 team for India trip may be declared and BCB’s head for cricket operations, Akram Khan, has indicated that a new T20 team may be declared.

“Since Tamim is not playing and Saifuddin is injured, we are taking a new team,” he said.

However, he did not make any comment on Shakib.

Nothing official has been declared as yet; Shakib did not take part in practice as he took two days leave, he added.
