Bangladesh Cricket Board chief Nazmul Hasan made it clear that he was irked with the Tigers’ performance in the T20I series against Afghanistan.
With the series decided on Tuesday after Bangladesh lost the second match, the question arises now that whether a whitewash can be staved off.
“To me losing is the major thing; one or three doesn’t make any difference. We have lost the series, but I did not like the way it happened,” BCB President Nazmul told the media on Wednesday.
Afghan spin wizard Rashid Khan, who was a major headache for Bangladesh, did not fail his team as his stunning four-wicket haul on Tuesday clinched his country the first-ever T20 series win.
The BCB boss, however, does not agree on Rashid being the only factor. “It’s true that they have good bowlers, but that’s not the only thing for winning.”
Nazmul said that he ‘just doesn’t understand the team’s planning’.
“The batting was simply disappointing, bowling was ok.
“Whenever we thought the batsmen were taking the team to a big score, wickets were lost. It seemed from the senior players’ wickets that there were problems. This is not the team, I used to know.”
After the first match, Nazmul had said he was disappointed with skipper Shakib’s decision,
“There may be questions over Shakib’s captaincy. I myself raised questions after the first match, but after Tuesday’s match I simply didn't feel like to talk,” the BCB president told media briefing at his residence.
