Mushfiqur Rahim became the first Bangladeshi to be dismissed for 99 in an ODI as the right-handed batsman got out in that score against Pakistan in their Asia Cup Super Four match on Wednesday.

Mushfiqur first Bangladeshi to be dismissed for 99 in any formatThis was the 33rd instant a batsman got out for 99 in 4047 ODIs till date. English batsman Geoffrey Boycott was the first batsman to face the unfortunate consequence at The Oval back in 20th August, 1980 against Australia.

Before Pakistan match, Mushfiq himself held the record of getting out on a score closest to 100 in an ODI for Bangladesh as he was dismissed for 98 against Zimbabwe at Bulawayo on 2009.

However, Mushfiq innings was crucial in the virtual semi-final of Asia Cup as Bangladesh were once stage reeling on 12-3 before Mushfiq made a 144-run stand with Mohammad Mithun, who made 60, to resurrect the side.
