Former lawmaker MA Awal has urged Islamic scholars to abide by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s directive to pray at home and not at mosques during the coronavirus pandemic.

“The scholars have not yet played an active role in preventing cornavirus infection,” he said in a media statement on Wednesday (Mar 26).

He added that although Islamic Foundation has urged the scholars to tell the Muslims to pray from home, they haven’t listened.

He said that several states with majority Muslims have suspended prayers in congregration and the move was to keep people protected from the infection.
