BNP's mayoral candidate for Dhaka South City Corporation Ishraque Hossain has said there has been a massive rigging in Dhaka city corporations elections.
"We would have got more than 80 percent of votes if the polls had been fair," he told the reporters at his Gopibagh residence on Saturday (Feb 1) night.
Ishraque alleged that Awami League activists cast the ballots after the electronic voting machines (EVMs) read the voter's fingerprints and BNP's polling agents were driven out the poll centers.
"The government has suffered a moral defeat," he said.
Claiming a wave raised in BNP's favour, Ishraque said, "The government rigged the polls... But, at last, it's the people who will secure the victory"
On polls rejection, the BNP candidate said he would abide by the party decision.
