Urging Dhaka residents to turn up at polling centres, the BNP's South city mayor candidate Ishraque Hossain pledged to restore "democratic rights of the people".
“Dhaka has been turned into the most polluted metropolis in the world,” Ishraque said while campaigning at Bangla Bazar on Saturday (Jan 30).
Turning the least livable city into a suitable is on top his agenda, Ishraque said before blaming the mayors in the last 13 years for "ruining Dhaka".
”This administration government is accountable to none as they assumed office without the people’s votes,” he added.
He pledged of adopting short-term and long-term projects to address the city's problems.
“The BNP has massive support from the people. All conspiracies of the ruling party will be crushed by their enthusiasm,” said Ishraq, the son of late mayor undivided Dhaka city corporation Sadeque Hossain Khoka.
