Raushon Ershad, the widow of Jatiya Party founder HM Ershad, has inducted 16 people, including her son Rahgir Al Mahi Shaad, into the policymaking panel of the party.
Raushon, who was the senior co-chairman, now serves as the chief patron, a newly-created post during the last council when Ershad's brother GM Quader retained the chairmanship.
On Wednesday (Jan 15), she reportedly forwarded a letter to Secretary General Mashiur Rahman Ranga appointing designations for the 16 people, which include membership in the policymaking presidium.
It said Raushon made the appointment by the "powers vested upon her as the chief patron" and that it would be effective immediately.
"The last council did not take into account their sacrifice and contribution. As the chief patron, I have made the appointments," Raushon told Bangla Tribune.

"I have not received any such letter from Raushon Ershad. So, no comments on this matter," he told Bangla Tribune.
A presidium member, who asked not to be named, however, said that Ranga has indeed received the letter.
Bangla Tribune reached to Chairman GM Quader over phone, when he asked "not to be disturbed over this matter."
He advised to speak with his press secretary Sunil Shuvo Roy, who did not answer his phone despite several attempts.
