Raushon Ershad got a newly created post at the last Jatiya Party conference but the opposition leader has become cornered. Her son, Shad Ershad is also not seen in any party post.
Those who were known to be pro- Raushon in the past have changed their tunes after getting influential posts in the party. Others, who did not get posts, are inactive.
A tug of war ensured between GM Quader and Raushon after the death of HM Ershad, which ended with reconciliation through party meetings.
GM Quader was made chairman while Raushon Ershad was made leader of the opposition.
However, during the party conference, a post called ‘chief patron’ was created for Raushon Ershad.
Reportedly, Raushon in not happy with the post and did not attend the 9th party conference held on Dec 28.
Secretary General of the party, Mashiur Rahman Ranga, said: “Madam is indisposed and therefore, did not go to the conference.”
After the conference, Raushon has become sidelined without any dominance in the party. After the conference, names of 52 posts were declared including that of chairman, secretary general and others but GM Quader did not discuss this with Raushon.
Party insiders say that as per organogram, Chairman GM Quader is the most powerful person in the party at the moment.
