The ruling Awami League' council has failed to lead people toward democracy and lacked guidance to overcome the economic, social and political developmental crisis of the country, says BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
“Awami League is moving towards establishing a one-party rule for nearly an era. They are neglecting Constitution,” Fakhrul told the media at the BNP headquarters in Naya Paltan on Saturday (Dec 21).
Responding to a query on BNP’s council, he said, “We are practicing politics amid adverse situation…We have been barred to hold councils in most places, especially in different districts and upazilas.”
The BNP will try to hold its national council soon after organizing the party under the leadership of Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, he said.
