The Jatiya Party (JP) doesn’t belong to any individual and it's now ready to run country, says its chief GM Quader.
“JP belongs to you [leaders and activists], not any particular person,” he told the council of Jatiya Shwecchashebok Party, the party's volunteers' wing, in Dhaka on Saturday (Dec 7).
Claiming that JP is the third largest political party of the country, Quader said, “As BNP is now in a leadership crisis, people are considering JP as the alternative with great expectations.”
Quader, who serves as the Deputy Leader of the Opposition at parliament, urged supporters to bring discipline and strength within the party.
“JP never patronised outlaws or ran illicit casinos,” JP Secretary General Mashiur Rahman Ranga said after claiming its late founder HM Ershad was not an autocrat.
“If JP can attain strength, we can take over the state power,” he added.
