A case was filed against 500 people in connection with Tuesday’s clash between police and a group of BNP leaders and activists in front of the High Court.
Shahbagh police station’s Sub-Inspector Matiur Rahman filed the case late on Tuesday (Nov 26) night against 20-25 identified and 475 unidentified people, said the station’s Inspector Arifur Rahman, reports UNB.
Two policemen were injured in the clash, which took place when a group of BNP leaders and activists were demonstrating in front of the High Court, seeking release of the party’s incarcerated Chairperson Khaleda Zia.
A number of vehicles were also vandalized during the clash.
Besides, police in a drive arrested Muktijoddha Dal President Ishtiaq Aziz Ulfat from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 1:45 am in connection with the case, said BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.
Ishtiaq was scheduled to go to the US, he said.
