“Kader Siddiqui and Nazmul Huda had separate meetings with the minister. But I have no knowledge on what they discussed,” said the ministry’s Senior Information
Sources confirmed that the Siddiqui, who once was with the Awami League but later ousted, went to the Secretariat on Thursday afternoon for the meeting with Quader.
The 30-minute meeting from 3.30pm discussed a possible alliance between Siddiqui's Krishak Sramik Janata League and the ruling party, according to people familiar with the matter.
Speaking to Bangla Tribune, Siddiqui declined to comment. “I have no comments on this matter.”
Asked whether the meeting took place, he replied, “No comments.”
Soon after Siddiqui left, Nazmul Huda arrived at Quader’s office and left after 30 minutes.
Sources confirmed that they discussed the current political scenario, the upcoming election and possible political polarisation.
Senior Awami League leader Quader could not be reached for a comment.
Earlier this week, Quader made a surprise visit to the offices of the Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB).
Both parties, however, have described it as a ‘courtesy call’, but sources confirmed that the discussions included a possible alliance.
