BNP leaders place wreaths at party founder Ziaur Rahman’s grave, together with leaders and activists of Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal, marking its 41st founding anniversary on Sunday (Oct 27).

BNP has voiced deep concern over the life of their party Chairperson Khaleda Zia.
“Our leader’s (Khaleda’s) condition is very critical. Her life is at risk, and there is a possibility that she might not recover,” Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said on Sunday (Oct 27).
The BNP leader made the statement while talking to reporters after placing wreaths at party founder Ziaur Rahman’s grave, together with leaders and activists of Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal, marking its 41st founding anniversary.
Claiming that their chairperson was completely fine when she went to jail, Mirza Fakhrul said: "Khaleda is now so sick that she is unable to walk, rise from her bed, and take food on her own."
He said Khaleda Zia’s proper treatment is not possible at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), where she has been receiving treatment since Apr 1.
“We have been repeatedly saying she deserves to get bail. But the government has taken all measures so that she is not granted bail, and is deliberately blocking her bail,” Mirza Fakhrul was quoted by news agency UNB as saying.
The BNP leader said their chairperson will receive treatment as per her will if she is released on bail.
Mirza Fakhrul alleged that the government has turned Bangladesh into a failed state by usurping state power. “The government is pushing Khaleda towards death by keeping her in jail unfairly, by disrupting democracy.”
He said the country’s current overall situation suggests that the government has failed to deliver on every front as it has no legitimacy and people’s mandate to govern the country.
The BNP leader urged people to unite in order to establish a democratic governing system in the country. “The current illegal government should quit immediately, as holding a fair and credible election under a neutral administration and the Election Commission is the only way to overcome the current crisis.”
He said the society has got ruined and many terrible incidents are happening all over the country, as the current government has been carrying out various illegal activities to hang onto power.
The BNP leader added that the arrest of the ruling party leaders in the recent anti-corruption drive has proved that the current government is a corrupt one.
