Jatiya Oikya Front has announced that it would hold a rally at Dhaka's Suhrawardy Udyan on Oct 22.
The announcement came at a media call after the alliance's steering committee held a meeting at its leader Kamal Hossain's Motijheel offices in the capital on Wednesday (Oct 16).
Asked if the alliance is denied permission for the rally, Gono Forum President Kamal Hossain said, "To not allow us to hold the rally means the government violates the constitution.
"If they (the government)´don't give the permission we will set our next course of action then," he added.
Gono Forum General Secretary Reza Kibria said the alliance leaders would focus on the country's political situations at the rally.
They would also launch a mass signature campaign at home and abroad protesting at the murder of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology student Abrar Fahad, he added.
Presided over by Kamal Hossain, Ganosasthya Kendra founder Zafrullah Chowdhury, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal-JSD president ASM Abdur Rob, and Bangladesh Nationalist Party standing committee member Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku, among others, attended the meeting.
