Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud speaking at a programme organised by the Chattogram Shilpakala Academy on Tuesday (Jul 30).The BNP is out to gain political mileage by capitalizing on the students’ emotions and influencing the protests for slain Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), said Information Minister Hasan Mahmud.
“The BNP leaders have advised the students to continue protests even though the government accepted all their demands,” he said while briefing the media on Sunday (Oct 19).
“This proves that a dedicated quarter especially BNP wants to influence the protests by capitalising on the students emotions,” he added.
Hasan said that the government detained the perpetrators of Abrar’s killing even before the case was filed.
“So far 19 have been arrested. The government has accepted all the demands made by the students, which is a first in the history of Bangladesh,” he added.
Hasan, who serves as the ruling party publicity and publication secretary said that BNP’s student affiliate Chhatra Dal and Jamaat-e-Islami student wing Chhatra Shibir are conspiring to influence Abrar’s murder incident differently.
