Chhatra League will work on PM’s orders, says acting chief

His remarks came while briefing the media, a day after his appointment at Madhur Canteen on Dhaka University campus on Sunday (Sept 15). He was accompanied by newly appointed General Secretary Lekhak Bhattacharjee.
“The prime minister has given us a responsibility and we will work with her to keep the development spree ongoing,” he said.
“We will work so that people have a positive attitude towards us,” he said and added that steps will be taken if allegations of extortion or corruption arises against any BCL member.
General Secretary Lekhak said that the biggest challenge for them is formulating all the committees within the next 10 months and holding a proper council.
On Saturday (Sept 14), the ruling party removed Rezwanul Haque Chowdhury Shovon and Golam Rabbani from BCL as president and general secretary over allegations of extortion.
Vice-President Al-Nahean Khan Joy and Joint General Secretary Lekhak Bhattacharjee were given charge of the organization as its acting president and general secretary respectively until new leadership is formed.
PM Hasina who chaired the meeting where the decision of dismissals was taken, reportedly termed the Shovon-Rabbani duo as “monsters.”
