Everyone must stand united irrespective of any party to send the Rohingyas back, said the Awami League-led 14-party Alliance spokesperson Mohammad Nasim.
He made the call on Monday (Sept 2) during a program organised in remembrance of veteran politician Mozaffar Ahmed, who passed away recently.
“The prime minister gave them temporary shelter on humanitarian grounds. They must return now,” he said.
“Stop formulating conspiracies regarding the Rohingyas. It’s not a political issue,” he added.
Nasim who is also a member of the ruling Awami League’s Presidium said that he hoped that unity will solve the Rohingya crisis as effectively as it curbed militancy in the country.
While remembering Mozaffar Ahmed who was a member of the advisory council of the 1971 government in exile, he said that it was due to visionary leaders such as Ahmed, Bangladesh was liberated.
On Aug 28 the BNP made a similar call at a round table conference on the Rohingya crisis. They placed a 10-point recommendation to solve the problem which included national unity.
