Police have beefed up security for BNP’s procession on the occasion of the party’s 41st founding anniversary.
BNP leaders and activists are set to start a procession from the party headquarters in Naya Paltan on Monday (Sept 2).
The procession is scheduled to go through Shantinagar and then come back to the headquarters.
A spot visit to Nightingale intersection at Paltan showed that police have been deployed in the area and a water canon has also been kept ready at the intersection.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Motijeel Zone Deputy Commissioner Anwar Hossain said that police have been deployed at those points deemed risky.
“Ample police force has been deployed at Fakirapool and Paltan intersection and around BNP headquarters to tackle any chaos regarding the procession,” he said.
