Narendra Modi sends letter to Sheikh Hasina

Narendra Modi and Sheikh HasinaIndian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has sent a letter to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Press secretary to the prime minister Ehsanul Karim told the journalists that Indian high commissioner to Bangladesh Harsh Vardhan Shringla handed over the letter to the prime minister when he called on her at Gano Bhaban on Aug 10.
The press secretary, however, did not elaborate the content of the letter.
Meanwhile, a press release of the Indian high commission in Dhaka said in the meeting, the high commissioner recalled the successful state visit of the prime minister to India in April, and briefed her on the implementation and follow up to a record numbers of MoUs and agreements concluded during the visit.
The high commissioner also apprised the prime minister about the high level exchanges to continue the momentum in bilateral relations with the objective of mutually beneficial cooperation between both countries.
Shringla handed over a copy of Uday Mahurkar’s book ‘Marching with a Billion’ to the prime minister.
The book analyses prime minister Narendra Modi’s government’s three years in office with focus on progress in key areas of governance including infrastructure, foreign affairs, power and energy, social sectors, finance, agriculture, digital technology etc.
The book, in outlook on foreign policy, describes Bangladesh as a key developmental partner of India under Narendra Modi. It refers to widespread recognition and appreciation of prime minister Hasina’s policy of zero tolerance against terrorism.
It also highlights Shiekh Hasina’s exceptional leadership and cooperation in successfully implementing the border accord between both countries.
The prime minister described the book as a ‘timely look at the progress and achievements of the world’s largest democracy, and said that India continues to be a champion of regional cooperation and development under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.’
