AL pays tribute to Aug 21 grenade attack victims

The Awami League has paid tribute to the victims of Aug 21 grenade attack by placing wreaths at a makeshift memorial built in front of Awami League’s central office on Bangabandhu Avenue in Dhaka.
Leaders and activists, led by party General Secretary Obaidul Quader, placed the wreaths at the makeshift memorial, built in memory of the victims of the grenade attack, on Wednesday (Aug 21) morning.
At the event, Obaidul Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, said those responsible for the August 21 grenade attack will be brought to book.
On Aug 21, 2004, a deadly grenade attack was carried out at an anti-terrorism rally of Awami League on Bangabandhu Avenue in Dhaka.
The attack killed 24 people, including the then president of Bangladesh Mohila Awami League and late President Zillur Rahman's wife, Ivy Rahman, and injured over 500 others.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the then the opposition leader, narrowly escaped with severe injuries from the attack.
