BNP describes attack on quota reformists as ‘barbaric’

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam AlamgirThe BNP has described the attacks on quota reformists as ‘a barbaric and heinous assault on peaceful movement.’
Activists of Bangladesh Chattra League allegedly attacked the quota reformists on Monday (Jul 2) and Saturday (Jun 30), which the BCL denied.
In a statement on Monday, Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir protested the attacks saying, “The government is behaving inhumanly with the quota reformists.”
“Prime Minster Sheikh Hasina’s assurance on quota reform is yet to be implemented, in the meantime, police have been arresting the quota reformists and activists of the ruling party’s student wing attacking them,” the statement reads.
Demanding the unconditional release of the detained protesters, Mirza Fakhrul called for a peaceful solution through holding talks.
