Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina called grassroots leaders and activists to boost the party’s popularity by highlighting the development initiatives before the people.
“Do inform the people about the development and how the nation prospered under the Awami League’s rule,” she said on Saturday addressing a special extended meeting of the Awami League.
Representatives from Union Parishad units of the party in Chattogram, Rajshahi, Barishal and Sylhet divisions attended the meeting at the PM’s official residence, the Ganabhaban.
The Awami League needs to be more organised ahead of the parliamentary polls, she said before adding, “We work for the welfare of the people. All kinds of internal feuds have to be solved and the party needs to remain united.”
The prime minister said Bangladesh is now on the road of prosperity which has been possible for her government’s relentless and sincere efforts to take forward the country to the specific goal.
“Our politics always revolve around the only dream to free the rural people from poverty and provide them with a prosperous life,” she added.
Hasina also sought party workers cooperation for the effective functioning of the community clinics and school feeding programs to allow people to get a better life.
Urging aspirants of next general election for shunning all conflicts and propaganda against one another, she called all to work together for whoever the party nominates.
“Awami League is the only party in the country which can change the future of the people. So, the party must be made stronger, reinforcing its popularity among the rural people.”
Saturday’s extended meeting is being held in the second phase participated by grassroots level leaders of the party from Chittagong, Rajshahi, Sylhet and Barisal. The first phase was held on June 23, 2018. The next phase meeting of the grassroots level will be held on July 7, 2018.
