The extended meeting of the ruling Awami League leaders is set to be held at Ganabhaban on Saturday (Jun 30).
As many as 4,000 grass-roots leaders and party nominated public representatives across the country will participate in the meeting chaired by the party’s chief Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, sources said.
It is learnt that the party president will give a set of instructions to the grass-root leaders and activists ahead of the next general election during the meeting.
Splitting into two phases, leaders from Barisal, Rajshahi, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions will attend the Saturday meeting while leaders from rest of the divisions will sit the party president on Jul 7.
Speaking to Bangla Tribune, Abdur Razzak, “Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina wants to recognize the role of the grass-root leaders, who are the driving forces of the party.”
“She (Hasina) will give them instruction on how to prepare the party for the victory in the next general election,” said Razzak, who is a presidium member of the party.
Citing the invitation to the grassroots leaders would create inspiration, AL Organising Secretary Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury said, “These measures will bring pace in the party activities.
