Initiative has been taken to add impetus to the call for the release of BNP chief Khaleda Zia, informs a notice from the party’s press wing. The notice further adds that the campaign is spearheaded by British lawyer, Lord Carlyle.
BNP appointed Carlyle as legal counsel in 2018. The campaign group demanding Khaleda Zia’s release also has one member each from Conservative Party, Labour Party, Liberal Democrats and Labour Party of Australia.
BNP press wing says that this has been done to escalate pressure on the government. The notice also contains a quote by Lord Carlyle, censuring the government. The British lawyer said: “Khaleda Zia is being made a victim of injustice.”
In 2018, BNP tried to bring Carlyle to Bangladesh; but when he came to Delhi, the Indian authority refused him entry and sent him back to London.
