All of BNP’s decision are taken after consulting party chief Khaleda Zia, said Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
He made the remarks on Wednesday (Jul 10) during a program at the National Press Club.
“We formed the 20-party-alliance and Oikya Front at her advice. We contested the polls with her permission,” he said.
“I still think that if there is indeed a leader in Bangladesh that understands the people, it’s Khaleda Zia,” he added.
Fakhrul said that the government has purposefully kept Khaleda imprisoned because they know that the people are on her side.
“She is being denied bail even though it’s her legal right because they know if she is released, they won’t be able to illegally hold on to power.”
On Kader Siddique wanting to leave Oikya Front, he said that a few people leaving is normal and called on people to not be disappointed and stand united.
