There is a sense of resentment among parties in the Jatiya Oikya Front over several issues following the 11th National Elections.
Not getting an expected response from BNP, president of the Krishak Sramik Janata League, Kader Siddiqui may leave the alliance.
Oikya Front leaders have said that after the 11th parliamentary elections, BNP is in disarray. They are also saying that Kader Siddiqui’s statements and actions are creating pressure and triggering resentment among allies.
Dr. Zafrullah Chowdhury says: “Kader Siddiqui has decided to resign citing lack of activities of the alliance; but he does not have any programmes either.”
Meanwhile, the Krishak Sramik Janata League has called a press conference at the National Press Club today; reportedly, Kader Siddiqui will have a party meeting on Monday morning and then decide if he will stay in the alliance or not.
But if Dr. Kamal Hossain or anyone from BNP contacts him then Kader Siddiqui may defer the decision to leave.
Earlier, Kader Siddiqu had given letters to Dr. Kamal and four other Oikya Front leaders, mentioning incongruities within the alliance. But no one responded to the letters even after two months, which shows that Krishak Sramik League is not being given due importance.
Another leader of Oikya Front and convener of the Nagorik Oikya, Mahmudur Rahman Manna, observed: “For democracy, we need unity but BNP has to ascertain the strategies.”
Meanwhile, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said: “I will make a comment after Kader Siddiqui resigns; we want to hear what he has to say.”
