Over hundreds of supporters led by Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi started the procession from the street in front of the Naya Paltan headquarters which paraded up to the Nightingale Intersection before returning to the BNP offices.
Speaking at a brief rally after the demonstration, Rizvi blamed some media outlets of running false and fabricated reports against the party’s leadership, including the acting chairperson.
“The government and intelligence agencies resorted to fake news after their plots to create rift within the party failed,” he said.
Blaming the government of judicial intervention to imprison Khaleda on false and politically motivated charges, Rizvi said the government’s conspiracy to wipe out the BNP has failed, even after not only jailing Khaleda, but hundreds of thousands supporters across the country.
