The BNP’s decision to boycott the 11th National Election soon after the polls and to not join the parliament was wrong, says its Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
"Nothing can be achieved by only raising slogans. Our acting chairman has taken the right decision, as we have to fight both in and outside parliament," he said on Sunday (May 5).
Mirza Fakhrul’s remarks came at a discussion organised by pro-BNP organisation at the National Press Club in Dhaka.
"I have no hesitation in admitting that the earlier decision for not joining the House was not right. We have to fight on all fronts,” he said before adding the BNP is united and there was no rift within in the party.
He urged leaders of the party not to discuss party problems at public meetings. “I urge you all to discuss party problems in party forums only.”
