According to sources, senior leaders of the party will be in attendance at the meeting along with a few lawyers and some important decisions may emerge from it.

Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, one of the members in the standing committee, however, said on Friday that it is a regular meeting.

A number of sources said, the recent oath taking of BNP’s MP elect Jahidur Rahman Jahid, who won from Thakurgaon-3 constituency, will be on the agenda other than the issue of incarcerated party chief Khaleda Zia’s health and attempts to free her on bail.

Tarique Rahman, the acting chief of the party, is likely to attend the meeting via video conference, said the sources.

When asked on the meeting, BNP chief’s media wing member Shairul Kabir Khan told Bangla Tribune, “The senior leaders meet on a regular basis.”

“The Saturday evening meeting is a part of it, I heard,” he added.
